Detectives in the unit are sub-divided by their specific assignment and investigate either crimes against persons or property crimes. The crimes include:

  • Homicides
  • Felonious assaults
  • Robberies
  • Burglaries
  • Child abuse
  • Cold case homicides
  • Internet crimes 
  • Kidnapping 
  • Hi-tech computer crimes
  • Auto theft
  • Missing persons
  • Officer-involved shootings
  • Registration of all sexual registrants (Megan’s Law)
  • Sexual assaults (child and adult)
  • Suspicious deaths
  • Identity theft
  • Forgery

Crimes Against Persons Unit

The Crimes Against Persons Unit is comprised of one Sergeant, 10 Detectives and one Community Service Officer.  The assignments within the unit include investigating:

 Five Detectives assigned to investigate robberies, homicides, felony assaults.
 Four Detectives assigned to investigate sexual assault and child abuse.
 One Detective assigned to investigate sexual assault, child abuse, and sex registrants.
 One Community Service Officer assigned to investigate missing persons.

General Assignment Unit

The General Assignment (Property Crimes) Unit is comprised of one Sergeant and 10 Detectives. The assignments within the unit include investigating:

 Five Detectives assigned to investigate burglaries.
 One Detective assigned to investigate burglaries and arson.
 Two Detectives assigned to investigate fraud.
 One Detective assigned to the Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory.
 One Detective assigned to the Regional Allied Computer Team.
